1. Confirm Your Booking!
If you love what you see and would like to book a photography session with me, I just ask for a small reservation fee to confirm a date & time with you. I work Saturdays, Mondays, and occasional Wednesdays.
For newborn sessions, it is best to book while you are still pregnant. I keep time aside for you based on your due date and we confirm a date/time once bub is born.
Upon booking, I send you a confirmation email with all the information you should need. This confirms your appointment date/time, my address, plus advice on what to bring with you on the day and - most importantly - what to wear!
2. Design Consultation
About a week prior to your photography session, we have a consultation over-the-phone. We may go over questions I asked you upon first enquiry, but I use this time to confirm details with you again so I'm 100% prepared for your session! The design consultation allows me to customise your session to you, and covers: your priority of portraits taken, what you plan to wear, and your preferences on poses/props/colours etc.
We also discuss your child's sleeping and feeding patterns (if applicable) so we can tweak your arrival time if need be. Although I schedule a 10am start time, I love to be flexible with appointment times for my clients as I understand that your baby's feeding and sleeping patterns can change unexpectedly. I find this gives me the opportunity to achieve the best results, plus keeps everyone relaxed. It is however unusual to need to adjust the appointment time by more than 30 minutes.
3. Photography Session
This is where the real experience begins! Studio sessions take place on my property in Ferntree Gully. I have a spacious and comfortable studio, so comfortable in fact that I've had a few new parents take a nap on my couch while I photograph their newborn! The studio is separate from my house, so it has its own entrance and there is also a toilet you can use. The studio has 2 areas - one for working (where the magic happens!), and one for relaxing where you are free to use the space as you need. There is also a play area for toddlers and children.
I am lucky enough to have two parks within walking distance, which is perfect for when toddlers are involved in a newborn photography session. Once their family & sibling portraits are done they can take a walk with Dad and play outside!
If you would love to have your dog involved in your photos, I have a secure backyard that they can enjoy and relieve themselves if need be. However they are welcome to stay inside the studio if they prefer to be with you.
When taking your photographs, I work with continuous studio lights - this means no harsh flashes! I also feel it allows me to capture more natural moments plus those fleeting smiles and cheeky moments that your baby and children give me!
4. Ordering Session
During your photography session we will organise a date and time for you to return for your Ordering Session approximately 2 weeks later. This is the really rewarding part...... you get to re-live the fun of your photography session and view your precious photographs! It is best to have all decision makers present at this appointment as final decisions need to be made on the day.
I present to you 20-30 of your best photographs as a slideshow on a large TV screen, and then we discuss what products and packages may suit you. It is important to me that the Ordering Session is a pleasant experience and I use a program that makes the decision-making process easy and stress-free.
Ordering Sessions take approximately one hour and I guarantee no hard sales tactics! This appointment is the perfect time to ask me as many questions as you may have. The time is dedicated to you so I can pass on my professional advise and we can work together to decide what is the best option for you. My goal is to make sure you walk away happy and super excited to receive your photographs! I so often hear the words “I am so glad we did this” with parents leaving so thankful and excited to receive their photographs!
5. Collect Order
Upon taking your order, I will fully edit the photographs you have chosen and place any print or product orders. Your photographs are usually ready to pick up within 4-6 weeks (depending on how big your order is). You simply pick up your order from the studio in Ferntree Gully.
If you take up a payment plan, your order will processed once final payment is received so your order will be ready 4-6 weeks from then.
