~ Capturing your family from birth, and as they grow ~
Newborn, Infant, Baby and Family photography specialist, offering a fresh and modern style with natural yet elegant portraits. Photographer Michelle is passionate about proudly providing parents with high quality photographs that they will treasure a lifetime!
Michelle is an award-winning Melbourne based photographer and the owner of Kiddy Kats Photography. Michelle loves creating beautiful portraits of your baby and children that also capture their natural smiles and cheeky personalities. She is also very passionate about capturing the special connections you share with each other as a whole family.
Michelle particularly loves photographing babies within their first year. Babies grow and change so fast in that first year, and life goes by so quickly yet your love grows stronger every day! Being able to freeze this hectic time in your life and hold on to those memories for a lifetime is the reason why Michelle loves her job! She genuinely feels privileged to be asked into your lives to capture this special time for you and leave you with photographs that you will treasure forever. Having these memories for your baby when they grow older is also just as special for them as it is for you!
"We were delighted with the photos that Michelle took for us. They were exactly what we were hoping for! We now have beautiful maternity and newborn photos to treasure and our family love them too. Being a new mum I was nervous about how my 10 day old baby would behave at the photo shoot but Michelle’s expertise put my mind at ease straight away. She was great with our newborn and was able to take truly beautiful photos." - Kirsten, Croydon (City of Maroondah, Victoria, Australia)
"We were recommended to Michelle at Kiddy Kats by a friend and are so glad. All communication was so very easy and every bit of information explained to us in detail. Sessions with newborns have the capacity to be very difficult but the calm and professional way my baby was photographed and soothed made for truly beautiful photographs that will be treasured by us for a very long time. We would highly recommend Kiddy Kats to anyone." - Ingrid, Ferntree Gully (City of Knox, Victoria, Australia)
Kiddy Kats Photography also specialises in Pet Photography, which you can see on the website above. Michelle especially loves involving the family dog within family portraits, as she understands they are just as much a part of the family as your children. She also loves photographing kids with their pets and has just finished fundraising for RSPCA Victoria with the creation of a unique coffee table book on this topic!
Your dog and other pets can be photographed in the Kiddy Kats studio in Ferntree Gully or in one of the nearby parks that offer a stunning backdrop.
Australian Institute of Professional Photography
Michelle is an Accredited Professional Photographer with the AIPP. To become accredited, photographers need to apply and submit a folio of 20 photographs within their genre. The application is assessed by a panel of 3 judges and they are given accreditation if successful. This means that you as a customer can be assured that you are hiring a photographer of a professional standard who will provide you with high quality portraits. Read my BLOG for further details!
What makes a Professional Photographer?
I have worked with a lot of Melbourne families and new mums over the past few years and I have heard many stories from Mum and Dad about their past experiences with other photographers. Stories that often upset me because they tarnish the reputation of all photographers. I most commonly hear about experiences where parents feel 'ripped off' after having their photographs taken, or parents being underwhelmed by the end results.
I understand that finding a suitable photographer can be quite overwhelming so I have put together this extensive blog so you can better understand your options and make an informed decision. After all, there is a lot of effort on your behalf to have your memories captured and newborn photographs especially can't be repeated when the window of opportunity is so small.
How Much Do Photographs Cost?
Just because someone owns a camera, unfortunately it doesn't necessarily mean they know how to use it.
In the digital age, anyone with an iPhone and Facebook page can market himself or herself as a photographer, so it is important to find a photographer that you can trust to capture your memories. After all, those precious moments disappear in a flash! When considering a photographer, it is a good idea for you to find out about the photographer, their experience, reputation, and business policies.
Photographers’ prices tend to be based on an industry standard equivalent to their skill and experience.
Behind-the-scenes of a Family Sunset Photo Shoot in the gorgeous Dandenong Ranges.
Based in Ferntree Gully (Melbourne Eastern Suburbs), it's an easy drive up into the Dandenong Ranges for my sunset Family Portrait Sessions. I love to use a couple of areas in Olinda and find that family portrait clients find them just as breathtaking as me! I also use a local park in Boronia for Melbourne families that want less travel time or need easier terrain.
I offer Family Sunset Photography sessions October through to May.
